Treat a Family to Dinner

There are a lot of creative ways to help others with free food in a safe way. You may not be able to get together physically; however, video streaming services have made it possible to have a virtual night-in with family and friends from across the globe. Consider having a meal delivered to the family that you would like to treat to a free meal. On the other hand, you may want to purchase pre-packaged items to drop off safely to your guests while allowing them to cook the meal with all the ingredients neatly in tow. You can even make a neat menu of the items to surprise them in their package. Whatever you choose, the family will appreciate that you thought of them. From a dessert to a full feast, it’s really the thought that counts!

TIPS:

  • Some people may be shy for you to treat them to a meal so bear this in mind if you plan to tell other people about it. It’s a good gesture to get permission before posting or sharing ANY recording or pictures of someone who you are surprising with a free meal.
  • If you are having a meal sent to someone as a surprise, consider asking them discretely or someone else they know about any food allergies.
  • Surprise meals are great but will require someone to be available for delivery. Double-check that your meal recipient will be available for your sweet treat.

Please note that all events held in honor of National Day of Love® must be approved by our organization in writing. If you are celebrating on your own to pay for a single family’s groceries, your activity most likely will not constitute an event. On the other hand, if you plan to do this as a community event, you can register to host an event here.
